At the Institute of Political Science at the University of Bern (Switzerland, Prof. Isabelle Stadelmann-Steffen) the following position is available:
starting on August 1 (or by agreement) for a period of three years (36 months) with the potential to extend to five years. The position will serve two consortia of the SWEET funding programme funded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy in which Prof. Isabelle Stadelmann-Steffen is involved, namely "EDGE - Enabling Decentralized renewable GEneration in the Swiss cities, midlands, and the Alps", and "SURE - SUstainable and Resilient Energy for Switzerland" as well as the individual scientific qualification of the candidate.

Within the projects, the postdoc position will mainly be involved in the following tasks:
• Conceptualization, preparation and coordination of a joint survey project focusing on the social acceptance of renewable energy in different geographic areas in Switzerland.
• Analysis of cantonal policy and regulatory contexts in the area of (decentral) renewable energy sources: what is the current state and what future policies are needed in view of future energy system scenarios? How do actors react to varying contexts?
• Gaming-based analysis of behavior
• Production of high-quality research output (e.g., peer reviewed publications, conference presentations)
Strong interest in energy research from a social-science perspective
• Very good skills in empirical social science methods (esp. survey and experimental analyses)
• Very good English skills
• Good knowledge of German or French
• Motivation for team work, high organizational and communicative skills
• Publication and project experience as well as knowledge about "the Swiss case" (i.e., the Swiss political system and/or Swiss energy policy) are advantageous for the position
• Freedom and support to develop own research ideas and produce high-quality research output
• Excellent working conditions and environment
