Postdoc Position | Heart / Lung Research

The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim nearby Frankfurt (Germany), Department of Cardiac Development and Remodelling (Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Braun) invites applications for a Postdoc Position limited until 30th December 2023 - with the possibility of extension (Reference Number 2021_06) to work on the “Characterization of cell heterogeneity and immune cell clearance in the cardiovascular system”.

Our offer

Our team has a long-standing interest in the heterogeneity of cells in the cardiovascular system and the of immune cells for cardiac remodeling (see for example Loerchner et al, Nature Medicine, 2015; Jia et al, Nat. Communications, 2018). We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious postdoc, who will address the heterogeneity of innate immune cells, characterize signals that control early immune response in the infarcted heart, and determine functional differences in subpopulations of leucocytes. The postdoc will employ preclinical mouse models to develop immune-modulatory strategies for enhancing intrinsic repair processes and suppress excessive inflammatory responses.

Your qualifications

A strong background in molecular biology, mouse molecular genetics, immunology, cardiovascular biology (fundamental biology and/or preclinical research), cell culture/biology, and/or histology is expected but not mandatory. Basic computer skills (word, powerpoint, graphs, statistics, image analysis), scientific English, and good writing and oral presentation skills are required. Applicants from different research areas will only be considered, if candidates have the necessary background to quickly master advanced molecular and cellular techniques. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, multicultural and well-funded scientific environment.
