The Faculty of Built Environment at Tampere University is inviting applications for a fixed-term position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Building Services research group.
We are looking for candidates with a doctoral degree to take up a fixed-term appointment as Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position will entail the visionary development of carbon-neutral energy solutions. Your research will focus on integrated energy solutions, business models and services that are based on decentralised energy.
Candidates must hold an applicable doctoral degree in building services or energy technology and have the ability to work independently. We are looking for candidates who have recently graduated with a doctoral degree or already have a few years of development and/or research experience. Candidates will be expected to have broad understanding of the ongoing energy transformation and the related impacts. The position requires a strong commitment to the common goals and the successful implementation of research projects.
We are especially interested in candidates with in-depth expertise in one of the following areas:
- lifecycle management of smart building services
- user-centric smart buildings and related technologies
- cooling and heat pump technologies
- carbon-neutral, flexible energy systems, or
- optimisation of smart energy production and consumption.

The earliest possible starting date is 15 August 2021. The fixed-term contract will end no later than 31 April 2025. The primary workplace will be the Hervanta campus of Tampere University, but it will also be possible to work remotely in Finland. You will have the option to work flexibly from different locations on a case by case basis. A trial period will apply as set out in the Finnish Employment Contracts Act.
The salary will be based on the job demands and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ). The position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is placed on levels 5-6 in the system. In addition to a job-specific pay component, you will receive performance-based pay.
