The group of Animal Nutrition at ETH Zurich is seeking 2 motivated, team-oriented candidates with a strong interest in the interface of basic and applied research in agricultural and nutrition sciences. The goal is to improve the health, production efficiency, and sustainability of livestock farms.
Job description
Research topics include:
- Improve nutrition utilization efficiency and minimize environmental impacts of ruminants
- Understand the gut microbial composition of ruminants in response to dietary shifts
- Integrate precision farming technologies and implement statistical modeling and artificial intelligence
We offer exciting and future-oriented projects in a highly motivated research group that is equipped with excellent experimental and laboratory facilities. These are provided at the new research center AgroVet-Strickhof (www.agrovet-strickhof.ch) which is where the successful candidates will be located. Supervision will be close but allows independent work. Scientific writing and participation in scientific conferences are very much supported. The doctoral salary is 47,040 CHF to start with. The duration of the position is three years, and the project is intended to start between September and November 2021, if possible. The successful applicants also have the opportunity for further education during the doctorate study (12 ECTS units acquired).
Your profile
A master’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Nutrition Science, Food Science, Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or related disciplines is a prerequisite. Affinity for animal experiments and laboratory work is essential. Experience with statistical analysis, model development, and assessment is preferable. Writing scientific papers requires good knowledge of the English language.
