Large Animal Diagnostic Imaging Lecturer / Senior Lecturer


Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Companion Animal Clinical Sciences – Radiology Unit, invites applications for a full-time, permanent position as large animal diagnostic imaging lecturer / senior lecturer.


The successful candidate will join a team currently comprised of 2 ECVDI/ACVR diplomates, and 5 dedicated radiographers/nurses. Facilities include state-of-the art imaging modalities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, low-field 0.27T MRI, high-field 3T MRI, multislice CT (including standing option) and scintigraphy


Main tasks

Main work responsibilities comprehend equine diagnostic imaging within all on site modalities

Teaching of undergraduate students

Supervision of postgraduates and residents

Research activities

Competence

Required academic qualifications, knowledge and skills:


Degree in veterinary medicine and license to practice veterinary medicine in Norway. A successful canditate lakcing licence to practice in Norway will begiven time to aquire this before entering the position.

Equine clinical and diagnostic imaging expertise.

Good language skills both orally and in writing in English.

Documented educational competence using a “teaching portfolio” with a description of:

Pedagogical qualifications, completed a program of at least 200 hours and pedagogical experience

Teaching-, pedagogical- and tutoring experience

Basic teaching skills in planning, implementation, evaluation and development of teaching and supervision.

Those who do not meet the educational requirements for employment at the time of hiring shall be required to meet them within two years of employment.


Desired qualifications:


Teaching experience at university level.

Research experience.

Proficiency in a Scandinavian language.

Personal skills required:


Motivation for teaching.

Good collaboration and communication skills.

Positive attitude, responsible and solution-oriented attitude.

Personal suitability will be given weight.


Required qualifications for employment as Senior Lecturer:


Diplomate status of ECVDI/ACVR, preference «large animal track».

Desired qualifications for employment as Lecturer:


Completed ECVDI/ACVR-approved large animal track residency and board eligible in 2022.

Or experienced equine clinicians with board certification within another specialty and a strong interest in diagnostic imaging could also be considered.

Remuneration and further information

Depending on qualification, the position is placed in government pay scale position code:


1198 Senior Lecturer, wage framework 24, salary grade 61–77 (NOK 553.500 –752.800). Promotion by seniority

1009 Lecturer, wage framework 25, salary grade 51-71 (NOK 468.300 – 665.700). Promotion by seniority.

If candidates of current interest have completed ECVDI/ACVR approved residency and are authorized to sit the final exam in 2022 and lack of diplomate applicants, a 3 year temporary engagement may be established (jf. Universitets- og høgskolelovens § 6-5,1.). Permanent position application including evaluation must be performed within 3 years. The position will become permanent if the candidate is qualified as ECVDI/ACVR diplomate.

About the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at NMBU is the country's only veterinary professional education and provide expertise in veterinary medicine and veterinary public health. The Faculty educates veterinarians, animal nurses and doctoral students in Veterinary Science and researches in veterinary medicine and related biomedical fields. We have 500 students and 430 employees.


The faculty consists of the departments of Preclinical Sciences and Pathology, Paraclinical Sciences, Production Animal Medicine and Sports and Family Animal Medicine.
