Postdoc in Biochemistry and structural biology of cholesterol transport proteins for the discovery of new small molecule inhibitors

 

A postdoc fellowship in protein biochemistry and structural biology funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation is available at the Department of Chemistry at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project will be under the supervision of Associate Professor Luca Laraia and will start on September 1st 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will join a young research team working at the interface of chemistry and biology.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The successful applicant for this position will become a vital element of the research programme of the laboratory. Their work should lead to the establishment of a biophysical and biochemical assay platform needed for identifying and validating inhibitors of cholesterol transport proteins. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the group of Professor J. Preben Morth, based at the department for Biotechnology and Biomedicine at DTU.

Candidates should have a PhD in biochemistry or related discipline together with a knowledge of biochemistry and biophysical methods such as dynamic scanning fluorimetry, fluorescence polarization and FRET. Thorough knowledge of protein expression and purification will be necessary and it will be advantageous to have general knowledge of bacteriological methods, cloning, protein engineering and x-ray crystallography. The candidate should be highly motivated, able to work independently and should be confident in both written and spoken English. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is available for 24 months in the first instance and will start on September 1st  2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
