Applications are invited for a 19 months' postdoc position in the field of “Computational Atmospheric Chemistry” at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, Denmark.

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a fixed term 19-months position from 1/11-2021-31/5-2023.

Job description

The formation and growth of atmospheric molecular clusters constitute one of the largest uncertainties in global climate modelling. This project aims at studying cluster formation processes using quantum chemical methods and machine learning algorithms. The project involves, but is not limited to:

Generate and utilizing quantum chemically (QC) derived atmospheric molecular cluster data to develop machine learning models. Involves applying algorithms such as kernel ridge regression and gaussian process regression to QC databases.

Your profile

Applicants should hold (or soon complete) a PhD in Chemistry/Physics, or similar.

Additional qualifications for this project:
  • Extensive experience with electronic structure theory methods.
  • Explicit knowledge about atmospheric chemistry.
  • Knowledge on computer programming (e.g., Python, Matlab).
  • Interest in data science and machine learning methods.
