Postdoc in Modelling of bioproduction from mammalian cells

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.

Job description

Veronique Chotteau’s group is the Cell Technology group (CETEG) at Dept. Industrial Biotechnology, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health, KTH. Chotteau has a long experience of developing biopharmaceutical drug bioprocesses for human therapy. CETEG's operations include bioprocessing of perfusion with high cell density, development of dynamic metabolism models and process development for the production of biological drugs, proteins and viral vectors as well as human cells. Chotteau is the Director of the Competence Centre AdBIOPRO for Advanced Bioproduction by Continuous Processing and the Coordinator of the European project iConsensus within the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI2). Chotteau is also a partner of the Competence Centre for Advanced Medical Product CAMP and the Marie-Curie EU program project STACCATO.

The Cell Technology group has a vacancy for post-doc in a project Data-Limited Learning of Complex Dynamical Systems, within Digital Futures (https://www.digitalfutures.kth.se), in a collaboration between Assoc. Prof. Veronique Chotteau, Prof. Håkan Hjalmarsson and Assoc. Prof. Saikat Chatterjee. Digital Futures is a multi-disciplinary research centre by KTH, Stockholm University and RISE.

The focus will be on the development of mathematical dynamic models for the production of biological drugs with mammalian or human cells. Models will integrate information from transcriptomics, where machine learning support will be evaluated. Post-doc will develop mathematical dynamic models, e.g. metabolism, glycosylation, based on existing experimental data from CETEG, and will perform new experiments for modelling purposes. The study will be carried out in collaboration with teams from System Identification (Prof. Håkan Hjalmarsson, Division of Decision and Control Systems, KTH) and Machine Learning (Assoc. Prof. Saikat Chatterjee, Dept of Information Science and Engineering, KTH). The practical work will take place at KTH, AlbaNova University Center, Stockholm.
