Postdoctoral Position | Lipidomics

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, is an international research institute focused on cell and developmental biology. Currently about 500 employees are working at the institute, where half are from abroad with 53 nations represented. MPI-CBG has twice been awarded the title “Best Place to Work” (Academia and postdocs) by the journal “The Scientist”.

We are offering a Postdoctoral Position in Lipidomics in the Biological Mass Spectrometry Group of Dr. Andrej Shevchenko.

Main tasks and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong background biological mass spectrometry and lipid analysis by high resolution shotgun or LC-MS/MS. Practical experience with lipid biochemistry and analysis of solid and liquid biopsies, tissues manipulation with laser-capture microdissection is advantage.

The successful candidate will work on the lipidomics of micro-dissected tissues to gain molecular insight on the spatial organization of tissue lipidomes, how it changes during disease progression and how to understand these changes via mutli-omics integration.

Your qualifications

The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree and documented experience in biological mass spectrometry in the area of lipid biology and lipidomics. Work experience with instruments of the Orbitrap family or FT MS, scientific interest in metabolic disorders and translational applications are essential.
