Professorship in Cyber Security

 


The University of Basel invites applications for a professorship in Cyber Security (open-rank). The professorship will be part of the Computer Science section of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science which encompasses the specializations Machine Intelligence and Distributed Systems. The professorship will strengthen the intersection between the two specializations and reach out to research groups in other Faculties e.g. regarding blockchain and smart contracts or protecting data in personalized healthcare.


Your position


The successful candidate will enhance the research portfolio of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Interdisciplinary research collaboration with other departments and affiliated institutions of the Faculty of Science and other Faculties of the University of Basel is expected.


Your profile


We are seeking candidates with an outstanding research record in one or more of the following areas: information security with emphasis on vulnerability detection, provable system and data security, reliable systems, data privacy and privacy-enhancing technologies, trustworthy computing, cyber forensics, cryptographic protocols and AI-based cyber-attack detection.

In addition to a strong research profile, practical experience with digital critical infrastructures, secure cloud computing and privacy by design will be appreciated. A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching is essential.
