Postdoctoral Fellow – Molecular Biology

A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated and creative candidate to join Scott Berry’s laboratory, as part of Single Molecule Science at the University of New South Wales.

UNSW’s Single Molecule Science initiative focuses on transforming medicine by providing a molecular perspective on complex biological systems and processes. In the Berry Lab, we study fundamental aspects of transcriptional regulation in mammalian cells. In particular, the mechanisms used by cells to regulate gene-specific and global RNA abundance – ranging from epigenetic memory and cellular decision-making to global RNA metabolism in the context of cellular physiology. Techniques used in the lab are focused on cellular imaging and quantitative analysis of image-based data at the single-cell level, as well as functional genomics and next-generation sequencing. See the lab website for more information.

Candidates with a background in transcriptional regulation, epigenetics, microscopy, or cell biology are highly encouraged to apply. A background in quantitative data analysis or mathematical modelling is desirable.

The Opportunity

  • 1-Year, Full time Fixed-term opportunity
  • Level A: $78K - $105K (+ 17% superannuation & leave loading)
  • Sydney, Australia based.

A Post-Doctoral Fellow (Level A) is expected to contribute towards the research effort of UNSW and to develop their research expertise through the pursuit of defined projects relevant to their particular field of research.

The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be responsible for experimental studies in the field of quantitative regulation of gene expression, as well as advanced computational analysis of experimental data. They will be responsible for leading the research related activities of their project, identifying opportunities for collaboration and funding and assisting the broader team with other research related duties. The role of Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to Single Molecule Science Group Leader and has no direct reports.
