Postdoctoral fellow (m/f/d) | Directed evolution of proteins

The Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence emerged from the MPI for Ornithology and the MPI for Neurobiology in January 2022. Until its official foundation, the institute will be legally represented by its predecessor institutes. The institute is located in the southwest of Munich and is part of the Life Science Campus Martinsried, with a second location in Seewiesen near Starnberg.

Our institute is dedicated to the investigation of "biological intelligence". We aim to understand how animal organisms developed skills in the course of evolution to adapt to a constantly changing environment and to always find new solutions to problems.

Postdoctoral fellow (m/f/d) for directed evolution of proteins

Our group has generated new methods for directed protein evolution in mammalian cells that are based on CRISPR/Cas genome editing enzyme.  While further improvements in the method need to be developed, this approach opens up numerous exciting possibilities to target proteins and signaling cascades for which the mammalian cell provides the relevant physiological context.

The position is best suited for an independent person who brings in a certain level of expertise acquired during PhD work.  This should be documented by at least one first author research publication in an international peer-reviewed journal.  The award of your PhD should be no longer than 4 years ago.
