The Department of Economics is one of the largest departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences with approximately 100 employees from a dozen countries. Each year about 1,000 students participate in undergraduate (BA), graduate (MA) and PhD level courses. The research conducted at the department is mainly focused on labour economics, macroeconomics, political economics and public economics. Researchers at the department are frequently engaged as experts by the government and by the media, and interact with the society at large in a number of ways. Please visit our website for more information.

Job Description: The research assistant will work closely with us on a project studying the careers of scientists. The position is temporary for 6 months, with the possibility to get extended. It is intended to be part-time with a workload of about 1-2 days per week.

Typical tasks include preparing and analyzing data, assisting with literature reviews and gathering background information, and collecting data using webscrapers.

Requirements: The ideal candidate should have a university level education (or be enrolled) in a quantitative subject (economics, statistics, applied math, etc.). You will also need basic programming skills in a high-level language (e.g. Python or Julia), as well as experience in using databases (e.g. SQL) and data analysis. In case you do not have all the required skills, but are keen to learn them, you are welcome to apply. Good knowledge of English is a requirement.

Additional qualifications: Candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics are encouraged to apply.
