The National Center of Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg is a joint institution of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Heidelberg University Hospital and the German Cancer Aid. The NCT with sites in Heidelberg and Dresden is the leading oncological center in Germany and shall be expanded to an international center of excellence regarding point-of-care and individualised cancer medicine.
Within a clinical trial at the NCT Heidelberg and the DKFZ we offer a position for a translational bioinformatician. The position will be situated in the Molecular Precision Oncology Program at DKFZ in Heidelberg, Germany in a large campus housing also the University Hospital as well as other University departments and research institutes.
You will work in an interdisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, molecular biologists and clinicians to identify targetable lesions and recommend targeted treatments for breast cancer patients.
Job description:
The bioinformatician will work together with experienced translational bioinformaticians and clinicians to analyse whole genome and transcriptome sequencing data of breast cancer patients. The analysis results will improve personalized treatment recommendations that will be discussed in weekly tumor boards at the NCT Heidelberg on campus. Furthermore, the applicant is expected to improve already-established analysis pipelines and to develop own workflows supporting clinically relevant interpretation of the next generation sequencing data. In addition, the applicant will have the opportunity to develop own research projects in collaboration with the experimental groups within the division.
Requirements:
Bioinformatician with a master's degree, a Ph.D. is preferred. Experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing data, ideally in a clinical context interpreting actionable mutations. Knowledge of breast cancer biology and cancer drugs is an advantage. Working language is English. Experience in quality management is an advantage.
