Postdoctoral Fellow (Droplet Microfluidics and Bioanalytical Methods)

 


The Bioanalytics Group at the Department Biosystems Science and Engineering/ ETH Zurich in Basel develops a new generation of analytical instruments and methods for cell and membrane analysis using microsystems technology.

Project background

The open postdoc project aims at the the development of a microfluidic device for high-throughput cell analysis, in particular drug screening and uptake, and related bioanalytical applications. It involves droplet microfluidics, droplet manipulation and separation methods. Droplet analysis will be done by optical methods, fluorescence spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.

Job description

  • Design and development of microstructured targets for MALDI mass spectrometry
  • Development of assays for multimodal analysis of cells
  • Development of workflows for data acquisition and analysis
  • Writing of scientific publications and grant applications
  • Supervision of students`projects

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest to work at the interface of biology and technology development. You should have a PhD in Microsystems Engineering, Physics, Analytical Chemistry or related fields and should have already substantial experiences in microfluidics or mass spectrometry, underlined by a strong publication record in these fields. Academic excellence, a professional work attitude, and leadership potential are expected.
