PhD Position - The Role of Agriculture in the Global Energy Transition

At the Institute of Energy and Climate Research - Techno-economic Systems Analysis (IEK-3), we use integrated models to research how we can achieve a sustainable energy system and what it might look like. For this purpose, we develop a variety of highly complex and very detailed techno-economic models with which we consider local and global energy systems in an integrated way in order to support the progress of the energy transition in the best possible way. For this work, the understanding of global greenhouse gas emissions as well as the current and future distribution of land for the provision of renewable energies is of particular interest. Here, agriculture plays a crucial role as a producer of food and provider of bioenergy as well as a relevant emitter of greenhouse gas emissions. Become part of our international research team and join us in taking a look at the interesting aspects of the agricultural sector as a building block of the global energy transition.
