Clinical Educator (Rural Allied Health)

 Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) is establishing an aged care education hub in partnership with Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) in Chinchilla. The purpose of this initiative is to provide high quality clinical placement opportunities for nursing and allied health students within the Chinchilla region. The program will work with SCCQ, and other providers in the region, to develop placement opportunities and innovative service-learning programs to enhance student learning whilst providing high quality health service provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Educator (Rural Allied Health) to join us in delivering this new program which is at the forefront of rural healthcare in Queensland, to the next generation of rural healthcare workers. In this role, you will have the chance to support effective, high quality rural training experiences for pre-registration Allied Health students based in Chinchilla and the surrounding region. We are seeking candidates who have a clinical background in one or more of the following disciplines: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Exercise Physiology.

These positions will support the supervision of students during rural clinical placements, facilitating interprofessional learning opportunities during student placements, and enhancing support and education to both students and clinicians. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with both facility staff and the wider health community to build upon your knowledge, skills and confidence in both supervisory and clinical skills. You will be able to actively engage and participate in research which is aimed at contributing to an evidence-base within a rural health agenda.

These positions are primarily based within an aged care facility in Chinchilla however placement support and facilitation may also include locations within Hospital and Health Services, General Practices and Community Package Providers within the region. You will be joining a wider Clinical Education Team based across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.

About You  

We are seeking a Clinical Educator with a tertiary degree in one of the following disciplines: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Exercise Physiology. You will have broad clinical experience as a health professional and at least 3 years of recent practice experience. You will bring expertise in clinical education and previous experience in the supervision of undergraduate health students.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for, and experience in, rural health education and/or aged care and a genuine commitment to improving rural and remote area health.

What We Can Offer 

Multiple part-time or one full-time, fixed-term position/s are available through to 31 December 2023 at Academic Level B. 

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $101,533 - $120,570 with an additional 10% market loading, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $128,947 - $153,124 per annum.

The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: part time/job share; some working from home; variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.

Other Information 

Mandatory Immunisations: It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases. As this position is based in an Aged Care Facility, this will include the COVID-19 vaccination.
