PhD Position - Bioinformatic Analysis of Genomes and Transcriptomes for Lupin Breeds

 Your Job:

  • Further development of MapMan for Fabaceae
  • Establishment of de novo genomes and transcriptome for lupin breeds
  • Comparative RNASeq analysis for the analysis of transcriptional responses towards bio stimuli
  • Correlation of quinolizidine alkaloids biosynthesis genes with alkaloid profiles

Your Profile:

  • Master’s degree in biology or bioinformatic or similar with experience in the relevant field
  • Experience with the processing and analysis of next generation sequencing data (genome, transcriptome)
  • Good experience in Scripting a scientific programming language, e.g. R or Python
  • Experience with Linux operating system
  • Good experience in the handling of plant material and with the isolation of DNA as well as RNA is a plus
  • Experience in data visualization is desirable
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Very good cooperation and communication skills and ability to work as part of a distributed team in an international and interdisciplinary environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory

The position is for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 65% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60 % of a monthly salary as special payment („Christmas bonus“).
