PhD Postition - Engineering Post-Synaptic Architectures with Native Biomembranes

 Your Job:

  • You will do research on native biomembranes, blebs process and ion channels density and localization according to surface curvature
  • You will fabricate conductive polymeric substrates through electrodeposition technique
  • You will monitor blebs formation and ion channels embedding with optical microscopy
  • You will analyze biomembrane formation by means of FRAP, AFM and QCM
  • Communicate with internal and external as well as national and international project partners
  • You will evaluate SLB uniformity and fluidity on the patterned substrates

Your Profile:

Scientific expertise and soft skills you should have:

  • Master degree in the field of Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology or a comparable course of study
  • Professional competence: previous knowledge in polymer biomaterials, artificial membranes, neuroengineering
  • Interest in neuroelectronics, neural interface, biomembranes
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with new methods, technologies and environment
  • Fluent English in writing and speaking



Further desirable qualifications:

  • Interest in bioelectronics and fabrication technologies
  • High degree of independence, motivation and reliability / independent and analytical working style
  • Very reliable and conscientious style of working
  • Excellent ability to cooperate and work in a team

The position is for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 65% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60 % of a monthly salary as special payment („Christmas bonus“).
