Postdoctor with focus on immunological mechanisms in inflammatory kidney diseases

Work assignments
As a postdoctor, you will principally carry out research. In this position, the research is primarily focused on inflammatory kidney diseases and mechanisms related to their pathogenesis. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours. You will be measuring various analytes in peripheral blood, such as cytokines and DNA, as well as isolate and culture cells of the immune system in vitro. You will analyze and present results from the experiments, which includes handling of clinical data, and writing manuscripts.  

The workplace
You will be employed in the Division of Diagnostics and Specialist Medicine, where the Unit of Internal Medicine is one of three units. Our unit conducts research and education within different areas related to internal medicine such as endocrinology, nephrology, pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology/ hepatology and coagulation disorders.

Qualifications
To be qualified for this postdoc position, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree, within immunology.  This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the date at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is not older than three years at the application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.

We are seeking applicants who have advanced knowledge in immunology and cell biology.

It is important to be skilled in, and be able to establish, methods such as ELISA, flow cytometry, cell isolation, cell culture, immunofluorescence microscopy and PCR. Experience from the nephrology field is also meritorious

You are independent and meticulous in your work and are motivated to learn new things and ways of working. Excellent command of the English language is required. 

About this job
This post is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The position as a postdoc is full-time.
