Research Scientist/Research Software Engineer in High Performance Computing (HPC)

 Within the Accelerating Devices Lab, you will work on the MExMeMo project to optimize and combine two polymer simulation applications on two different hardware platforms (CPU, GPU).


In more detail, you will be:

  • Using HPC tools and techniques to optimize single and multi-node runs of the applications on both CPU and GPU nodes
  • Exploring improvements for simulations with many GPUs in preparation of JSC’s Exascale system JUPITER
  • Extending the Modular Supercomputing Architecture concept by helping create a coordinator which steers execution of the two coupled simulation applications
  • Coordinating with our project partners in a deeply intertwined project setup
  • Presenting your research at scientific meetings, conferences, and as scientific papers.

Your Profile:

You are an excellent team player and a curious researcher, knowledgeable within the field of HPC, especially of GPU-accelerated HPC systems. You know how to tackle complex application workloads and how the batch scheduler enqueues them. You have some programming experience.

More specifically, your profile is:

  • Master`s degree, ideally followed by a PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar fields
  • Self-motivated personality with very good command of written/spoken English
  • Comprehensive experience using HPC systems as well as parallel/distributed computing with CPUs and GPUs
  • Programming and modern software engineering skills in C/C++ or Python
  • A track record of your work in code repositories (Open Source), scientific workshops, conferences, and other publications
  • Used to work in a multidisciplinary team and environment solving scientifically challenging problems on large computers.
