The Division for Language and Communication (DLC) at Chalmers is in an expansive phase, and as part of this expansion, DLC is recruiting two senior lecturers. At DLC, you will have ample opportunities to grow as a teacher and researcher. You will become part of a highly supportive and quality-conscious team that gives you good opportunities to develop within new areas as well as your areas of expertise. The research environment at the department has grown steadily over the past few years, and you will become part of a dynamic research environment.

Information about the division and the department
The department of Communication and Learning in Science (CLS) specialises in communication, engineering education, information literacy and strategic publishing. The department consists of four divisions: Engineering Education Research, Information Resources and Scientific Publishing, Language and Communication, and Learning and Learning Environments.

The Division for Language and Communication currently consists of 15 full-time employees, including one post-doc and three PhD students. The division does research within fields such as genre pedagogy, English medium-instruction (EMI), integrating content and language (ICL), intercultural communication (ICC) and self-regulated learning. The teaching of communication and group dynamics at undergraduate level is mostly integrated into engineering courses. The teaching therefore often involves being part of teams with colleagues from the division as well as from other disciplines.

The details of the departmental research activities may be found here.

The second position is focused on teaching at undergraduate and Master's level, with a focus on collaborative writing. Here, experience and knowledge of team teaching, undergraduate teaching as well as group dynamics are meritorious. Both positions also includes taking part in leadership and administration. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large.

Your research should be devoted to fields of research relevant for the division. Applicants are requested to submit a brief proposal of one or several possible research projects or to indicate research fields of interest. These positions also come with expectations on being involved in applications for research funding.

Contract terms
Full-time permanent employment.

Qualifications
You should have a PhD degree of language and communication or a related area, for instance English linguistics, English literature or Technical communication, preferably with a focus on academic writing or composition studies. You should also have pedagogical qualification, for instance a Diploma of teaching and learning in higher education or the equivalent (in accordance with recommendations of The Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF)). Last but not least, it is requested that you have extensive experience of teaching at university level and experience of working and teaching in teams. For this reason, we place a great deal of emphasis on your pedagogical portfolio. Experience from performing academic research or qualified research in industry/the public sector is meritorious.
