Senior Research Fellows / Postdocs (m/f/d) | Economics or Management

 The Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (MPI) conducts research on the incentives, determinants and implications of innovation and entrepreneurship processes, as well as their behavioral foundations.

The department, headed by Prof. Dietmar Harhoff, invites outstanding and motivated researchers (m/f/d) to apply as Postdocs in Economics or Management. The term of appointment is three years, but can be extended to six years.

Innovation and entrepreneurship research

Researchers at the Institute are expected to independently carry out basic research in the fields of

  • Innovation (with a possible focus on intellectual property rights, digitalization, economics of science, organization of innovation processes, human resources, international management, or health care)
  • Entrepreneurship (e.g., entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial teams)
  • Behavioral Foundations (e.g., incentives for creativity, innovation motives and behavior, inventor characteristics and personality)
  • They publish their work in leading academic journals. The Institute provides access to an outstanding research infrastructure, including large-scale databases and its own experimental laboratory. The working language is English.

About the position
 

  • The term of appointment is three years, but can be extended to six years.
  • The position does not include teaching obligations.
  • The gross salary is based on the Labor Agreement for Public Service (TVöD) and prior work experience, between 56,229 EUR and 65,046 EUR annually.

Required qualifications

Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in business administration or economics, or be close to finishing their Ph.D., and have a strong background in empirical methods.
