The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has emerged to lead programs that support entrepreneurial talent and startups at Monash University. The Startup Program Manager is part of The Generator, the universities central startup hub, and will oversee the development and delivery of core Generator programs such as the Validator, Startup Sprint and the Accelerator program (as well as scope and design new programs). The Generator is all about nurturing talent, from the twinkle in the eye of a first time founder, to someone ready to take their startup or social enterprise to the next level. As the Startup Program Manager, your role is about activating this talent and delivering programs that enhance the chance of success, both for the individuals and for emerging startups.

This is a dynamic role focussed on working collaboratively with the wider Generator and Commercialisation teams, overseeing the community of alumni that have been through Generator programs, as well as nurturing connections to the wider ecosystem to surround our talent with the best mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs-in-residence to support their journey.

This role will be focussed on the following:

  • Delivering a range of core programs (Validator, Startup Sprint, Accelerator and others as developed) from design through to evaluation

  • Nurturing a community of entrepreneurial talent and founders, from working with the existing alumni network to bringing new mentors, advisors and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence into The Generator offering

  • Working out ways to continually improve the experience and outcomes on talent, as well as looking at ways to grow the reach and impact of The Generator through our program offering

  • Applying project management principles to ensure the efficient delivery of programs, using tools such as Airtable, Notion, Slack and other platforms that enhance the participant experience

  • Working with other parts of Monash and across other campuses (such as Monash University Malaysia) to ensure a high standard in delivery and content of Generator programs

Your background

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in delivering startup or entrepreneurship programs, from design, user experience and feedback to deliver the very best for participants

  • An understanding of, and experience in startups, whether you’ve worked in one, lead your own or had significant experience supporting founders and entrepreneurs

  • A strong network in startup and entrepreneurship with the ability to bring people together

  • Exceptional communications skills with a genuine love for delivering high quality education experiences

  • The ability to nurture people using coaching and mentoring techniques

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a highly creative and fast paced team that is at the centre of all the startup action at Monash University. If you are looking forward to progressing your career at one of Australia’s leading universities, you are strongly encouraged to apply!

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
