Associate Professor in Applied Physics with specialisation in Additive Structuring of Multifunctional Materials for Sustainability

Skilled and committed employees are a crucial factor in the success of Linköping University. And we need more of them. Our core expertise comes from teachers and researchers, but a successful university requires experienced and motivated employees in many fields. Everyone is important. We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity. We need you here. We look forward to receiving your application!

Duties
A WISE Fellow position, a Associate Professor, is now being announced within the Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability (WISE), a program funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. This position relates to research and teaching in the field of functional materials with a focus on new methods for additive manufacturing and structuring with placement at the Laboratory of Organic Electronics (LOE) at Linköping University, Department of Science and Technology, Campus Norrköping. Recruited WISE Fellow receives funding for two doctoral students and two postdocs.

At LOE, electronic and optical properties of organic materials and organic-inorganic hybrid systems are explored. Of particular interest is the development of new components and system concepts for applications in energy, internet-of-things, health and biology. Our research includes synthesis, materials science, theory, and design and studies on electronic components and systems, ranging from fundamental research to the commercialization of research findings. LOE currently includes about 140 researchers and is divided into twelve research groups.

Your background includes research in additive processing of soft materials and components, including but not limited to printing technology, 3D printing and flexible/soft electronics, preferably focusing on energy and sustainability. You should be able to develop printing techniques and other additive structuring beyond the current state-of-the-art as well as explore new additive techniques. The goal is to construct 1/2/3D structures of new multifunctional inorganic/organic materials with high reproducibility and high precision on substrates, using e.g. new form factors or anisotropic structure.

You are currently active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results via academic publications and contribute to attracting external research funding.

The position as a WISE Fellow gives you the opportunity to be active in the WISE program regarding conferences, workshops and networking. The position may also involve leading multi-partnership projects (nationally and internationally) and participating in the management of activities.

As a WISE Fellow and Associate Professor in Additive Structuring of Multifunctional Materials, you teach at first and second cycle level in Swedish and/or English, as well as supervise students in the Faculty of Engineering's various programmes. The work may include the design and responsibility of courses.

You actively contribute to the university's development work and we would like you to participate in and show interest in collaboration or management assignments.

Your work includes following developments nationally and internationally in your subject area and the societal development in general that is important for your work.

You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of educational and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group's professional development, collegial working methods and social community. We see that you are present and active as self-evident in order for you to be able to perform your tasks in the best way and thrive in the work community.

Your qualifications
We are looking for you who meet the entry requirements and have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, and have demonstrated teaching expertise, or other professional skills that are of importance with regard to the subject content and duties of the position.

For this position, special emphasis will primarily be placed on scholarly proficiency, secondly on teaching proficiency.

In terms of scholarly proficiency, the following will be assessed:

• You will have a strong documented expertise in the research and development of printing technology.
• Merit is also documented expertise in other additive processing of soft materials (organic or biomaterials) and knowledge of organic (bio)electronics, photonics or energy components

Regarding teaching proficiency, the following will be assessed:

• You should have demonstrated experience and skills in guiding doctoral students and postdocs
• It is a merit with previous experience of having developed courses or other elements for doctoral education in multifunctional materials or printed electronics.

Regarding other skills, skills regarding collaboration will be assessed:

• It is a merit with interest and experience from collaboration as the research in this position requires international collaborations with other research groups and society outside the university.

When teaching and/or research is done in English, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and/or conduct research in English. In a long-term perspective, it is desirable that the applicant masters Swedish well enough to be able to teach in Swedish.

Assessment criteria and qualifications for employment as a teacher are set out in "4 kap 3-4§§ Högskoleförordningen and Linköpings universitets anställningsordning.
