The subject of historical osteology includes the study of skeletal material from humans as well as domesticated and hunted animals found while conducting archaeological investigations. This source material helps us answer questions about where and how humans lived in the past and their cultures. The education we offer is both practical and theoretical, while also placing great emphasis on ethical perspectives. Historical osteology has applications in the other subjects offered at the department. Osteological methods are also used in geology, biology, odontology, veterinary medicine and human medicine.
