 At the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research, one of the 86 institutes of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, physicists, chemists and biologists create knowledge of long-term relevance to life and basic medical sciences. Currently, our around 270 employees are divided into four departments and one Max Planck Research Group. In addition, the institute is part of the Heidelberg Mannheim Health & Life Science Alliance - an association of the leading life science research institutions in the region.

As a new form of graduate education, the Max-Planck Schools, joint initiatives of several German universities and research institutes, will bring the most talented students worldwide to German universities and research institutes. Together with top scientists, they will work on interdisciplinary research-oriented questions focused on molecular systems chemistry and biological physics. The young scientists will be trained in a research-oriented manner and under the best conditions.

Your tasks

The scope of duties includes the supervision of the application process at the Max Planck School “Matter to Life”, organization and execution of events, supervision and support of local lectures and committee work. The highly motivated person will contribute at courses and performance tests.

Your profile

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field. We are seeking to employ a highly motivated and capable person with the willingness to participate at the Max-Planck School “Matter to Life”. To work in a team, reliability, willingness to perform, flexibility of time, and the ability to work independently are essential for the position. Practical experiences/expertise with the implementation of graduate programs or schools would be of advantage as well as an insight into the research direction of the Max-Planck School Matter to Life. Also, an interest or a background in teaching is advantageous for this position. The candidate should be fluent in word and writing in German and English.

We offer

The contract is limited until the end of the pilot phase at September 30, 2025. Extensions may be possible. The remuneration is based depending on your experience in the field on TVÖD Bund.
