Research Scientist / (Co-)Group Leader – Research Data Management, Data Science and Machine Learning

 Your Job:

  • You will (co-)lead the Data Science Team of the IBG-4 that is working in interdisciplinary national and international research projects (e.g. UNTWIST, BreedingValue, NFDIs)
  • You will closely interact with an interdisciplinary group of scientists who generate large data sets e.g. from omics disciplines, thus requiring interest and competences in cooperation with various stakeholders in Germany and internationally
  • Furthermore, your task is the conception and direction of own research projects, including the acquisition of funding, as well as supervision of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers

Your Profile:

  • University degree (Master) and PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, or similar
  • Experience with acquisition and administration of third-party funds
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Expert in a compiled programming language (Java, C/C++ or Rust)
  • Very good skills in software design and development
  • Experience in scientific data analysis and data visualization
  • Profound knowledge and experience with data managements topics
  • Good publication record and experience in writing project reports
  • Established contacts into the scientific community
  • Structured and analytical thinking as well as a systematic, careful working method
  • Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory
  • Working knowledge of German is a strong plus
