Senior Researcher and Project Researcher/Doctoral Researcher

 Turku Cellular Microbiology Laboratory (TCML) led by Dr Arto Pulliainen is seeking a researcher with a doctoral degree (Senior Researcher) and Project Researcher/Doctoral Researcher. The positions are fixed-term for one year with a possibility of extension. The successful applicants are expected to start on 1 January 2023 at the latest.

The project elucidates the molecular functions of bacterial toxins and aims to develop radically new targeted therapeutics to prevent and treat bacterial infections. For additional information, please see

Positions require thorough knowledge and experience of the key concepts and methods of protein chemistry. TCML values expertise in protein expression, purification and characterization (e.g. IMAC, SEC, IEX, DSF, MALS), mass spectrometry, enzyme kinetic measurements, high throughput drug screening approaches, AlphaScreen, isothermal calorimetry (ITC), biolayer interferometry (BLI), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), X-ray crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and modelling of proteins as well as protein-ligand complexes.

The qualification requirements of the positions are stated in the University of Turku Rules of Procedure. The Project Researcher is required to have a suitable higher university degree, and a motivation to apply for a right to study for a doctoral degree.

The positions are subject to a maximum of six-month trial period.

Salary

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The job-specific salary for a project/doctoral researcher is 2108,40–2628,85 euros per month (levels 2-4 on the job demands chart) and for a senior researcher 2628,85-3549,72 euros per month (levels 4-6 on the job demands chart). In addition, a personal salary element will be paid and it is 6-50 % of the job-specific salary element.
