In this project, smell vocabularies of diverse languages are mapped partly with the help of data-driven machine learning methods based on natural texts (i.e. text corpora), and partly based on more traditional lexical-typological, linguistic methods based on native speaker elicitations.
The main responsibilities consist of analyzing text corpora using NLP methods, word embedding modeling, machine learning and similar methods, quantitative analysis, writing of scientific articles, and possibly also experimental data collection.

This includes high-level skills in Python programming, as well as documented experience in working with text corpora and various NLP methods, word space modeling with, for example, Word2Vec, BERT, GPT2 and/or other word space models. Documented experience of independent scientific work that has led to one or several publications in scientific journals or conference proceedings is also required.
It is also advantageous to have documented experience of working with machine learning and other statistical methods such as regression analysis, PCA, hierarchical clustering, or neural networks, experience of processing and pre-processing text data or other data types, of compiling different types of data from different sources, of different visualization methods of complicated data sets, of collecting experimental or survey data (for example via on-line forms).
The applicant should also have documented good collaboration skills, be able to work independently, be innovative and solution-oriented, and have basic knowledge of linguistics and psychology.
