Postdoctoral Researcher in MR Physics

In our research group, located in the Dept. of Neuroradiology at the Karolinska University Hospital, we develop new pulse sequences and image reconstruction methods for clinical neuro MRI, both for adult and pediatric patients. This is done in close collaboration with the MR staff and neuroradiologists, and most of our developed techniques end up in clinical use. Our group has also developed a simplified pulse programming framework that has been shared to the MR research community and that has allowed for a short translation of ideas to prototypes and clinical production.

Your mission

The applicant should be able to independently drive clinically relevant projects related to brain and spine MRI synergistically with the research themes of the group. The research and development conducted should lead to technical scientific papers. Current focuses include high-resolution SWI-EPI, novel spine pulse sequences, and ultra-fast MRI, all of which also involve motion correction strategies.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The applicant should have a physics, engineering, or computer scientist background. Good knowledge of MR physics and deep learning is favorable. Sufficient knowledge in C/ Python/Matlab programming, MR image reconstruction, and Linux is required, and C++ skills are favorable. An online test environment will be used to assess the applicant’s programming skills after the deadline. The applicant needs to be able to collaborate well with the MR staff and radiologists at the Dept. of Neuroradiology as well as with scientists at Karolinska Institutet.
