Research Associate (Postdoc) in Computer Science for Low-code tools in artificial Intelligence

Your Role...

This is a fully funded Postdoc position for 12 months (possible extension(s) up to 5 years in total). The position holder will be involved in the National Centre of Excellence in Research in Financial Technologies (“NCER-FT”) project. The topic is about enabling the power of machine learning in banking and finance for people without the necessary maths and/or data/computer science background. A low-code tool for finance people. The position requires skills in both machine learning and software engineering.

The NCER-FT aims to establish a Centre of Excellence in Research in Financial Technologies to strengthen Luxembourg’s position as an innovative financial hub by attracting talents and provide world class research and education.  The successful candidate will be working closely with Prof. Mats Brorsson (SEDAN research group, SnT, University of Luxembourg), Prof and Dr Szofia Kräussl (Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, University of Luxembourg) and other team members. She/He will:

  • Carry out applied research on and develop:
    • Low/no code Machine learning tools to perform
      • Data exploration
      • Data fusion
      • Machine learning algorithms

                      In the Finance/Banking domain

    • Data privacy concerns 
  • Publish results in high-quality journals and conferences
  • Work together with students and researchers at Department of Finance who will act as end-users.
  • Provide guidance to PhD students
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in grant and industry funded projects.
Your Profile...
  • A PhD degree in Computer Science, Software engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in publishing high-quality research
  • Highly experienced in one or more of the following topics:
    • Machine Learning / Deep Learning
    • Applied Mathematics
    • Data science
    • Software engineering
  • Experience with European projects (FP7/H2020), national/international projects and/or industrial projects
  • Commitment, team working and a critical mind
  • Strong development skills in Python, C++, and/or Rust
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensorflow
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory

Knowledge of French, German, or Luxembourgish is not required.
