Postdoc position (m/f/d) | Enzyme Engineering of Glycosyltransferases

Biocatalytic reaction networks for the production of oligosaccharides are of steadily increasing significance in the biopharmaceutical and food industry. The team for synthetic biotechnology of the department of bioprocess engineering at the MPI Magdeburg has developed various multi-enzyme reaction networks for the synthesis and modification of highly valuable oligosaccharides. In addition, it has established methods for the modification of glycan structures of cell culture-derived, recombinant proteins. To lead the way towards the viable application of our technology, we seek to engineer enzymes as the bottlenecks of our cascades by enhancing their activity and/or specificity. For this purpose, we are seeking an outstanding candidate that will support our enzyme engineering facilities.

Requirements

  • Expertise in the field of enzyme engineering through previous research
  • Master degree in biosystems engineering, biotechnology, biophysics or a related field
  • Independent working style and efficient self-management
  • Motivation and scientific curiosity
  • Excellent social skills and high incentive for team work

We offer

  • Active participation in ongoing, cutting-edge research projects
  • Three year contract with the option to extend or join our spin-off company
  • Joining an international, high-performing and friendly team of young scientists
  • Individual development and training opportunities
  • Excellent support from our senior staff
