PhD student (m/f/d) | Next generation batteries

 The Department of Colloids Chemistry (Director Prof. Dr. M. Antonietti) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, Germany invites applications from outstanding young scientists for the position of PhD student (m/f/d) | Next generation batteries to develop new electrode materials for next-generation batteries. The objective of the project is investigation of electrode material base for novel beyond lithium modes of energy storage, using state-of-the-art characterisation facilities. We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student in the field of materials science with major interests in electrochemistry and batteries. The candidate should have a degree in Chemistry-Materials Science or closely related fields, with an outstanding profile, a strong background and interests in

• Electrochemical energy storage
• Batteries
• Carbon (nano)materials
• Electrode preparation
• Electrochemical characterization

Experience of synthesis of electrode materials and their testing in batteries would be valuable. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.

The position will be in the framework of the ERC synergy project “Disruptive Modes and Materials of Energy Storage” (MoMa-STOR).
