Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics/Finance

 for a fixed-term position starting 1 April 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter and ending 31 December 2025.

Postdoctoral Researcher participates in the work of International Macro and Finance Research group (JyIMaF) and belongs to the OP Research Foundation Research Group on Financial Institutions. The research group studies and publishes in the field of international finance, macro finance and banking.  Postdoctoral Researcher´s duties will focus on scientific research and publishing in the field of financial institutions, including planning of research projects and applying for research funding. The duties also include teaching two courses, supervision of theses and administrative tasks such as organizing seminars.

Qualifications we are looking for

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Economics (Financial Economics) or in Finance. We appreciate teaching experience in the field of financial market, banking, financial economics, or in finance with international flavor. The candidate should have a doctoral degree preferably from an AACSB accredited business school or from other internationally recognized research university. Evidence on participation in research projects, research funding, and thesis supervision will be considered as an advantage for the applicant. While we consider applicants from all areas of financial economics and finance we especially value those whose research focuses on the question related to financial institutions, structure of financial market, financial intermediation, macro finance, banking, with an international focus.  An ideal applicant should have an ambitious research agenda targeting to publishing in the highest impact economics and finance field journals. 

The duties and qualification requirements and language skills for the position of the Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to have good skills in English language.

The salary of a successful candidate will be based on level 5-6 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting salary will be between 3350-4500 EUR/month depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
