The Department of Psychology is now hiring a Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology.

Subject description
Current themes within work- and organizational psychology at the department are: stress and health, well-being, creativity, diversity and discrimination, individual differences, performance and motivation, incivility and bullying, recruitment and selection of employees, as well as leadership and occupational health and safety. Research is conducted in close collaboration with stakeholders in contexts such as industry,  public sector, educational settings, health care and sport.

Work- and organizational psychology is a topic that is well represented in the department’s courses and study programs. The Department of Psychology have ongoing collaborations within the Faculty of Social Sciences; for example with Political Science, Sociology, Gender Studies, Service Management and Social Work. In addition, there are long standing collaborations with the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering. Researchers at the department have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art laboratory resources and research infrastructure at Lund University.

Duties
The position includes research, teaching and supervision in the field of work and organizational psychology on courses and programs at first, second and third cycle. An essential part of the professor’s duties is to lead and develop research in the division of work- and organizational psychology, apply for external research funding and take an active role in interdisciplinary collaboration both within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Lund university as well as with external partners.

The position also involves administrative tasks relating to research, education and management assignments within the Department of Psychology or other levels within Lund University. As a Professor you will be expected to actively participate in the daily work of the Department.

Eligibility/qualifications
Eligible candidates must have a Ph D in psychology and be able to demonstrate a level of research and teaching expertise within the field of work and organizational psychology that meets the requirements for the position of a Professor (in accordance with Article 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance).

Applicants must be able to provide documented evidence of outstanding and internationally renowned academic credentials including research, research project management and teaching in the field of work and organizational psychology. Eligible candidates should have documented evidence of teaching experience at first, second and third cycle courses. In addition, they shall have extensive experience in supervising doctoral students. Eligible candidates shall have undergone a minimum of five weeks of teacher training at the university level or acquired the same level of competence by other means.

At Lund University, suitability and skills in communication, cooperation and leadership necessary to perform the professor role is considered a general eligibility requirement.

Assessment criteria
We are looking for a person with a future oriented research program characterized by outstanding scientific quality and novelty. The successful applicant must have established themself as an independent researcher at an international level by:

(1) publishing in globally recognised journals and with renowned publishers in line with prevailing research traditions, (2) winning research funding in competition with other researchers, (3) having a documented ability to plan and lead scientific projects as well as establishing and leading strong research environments, (4) a track record of research with high societal impact, and (5) a proven track record of national and international research collaborations.

Candidates for the position will also be assessed on their track record of supervising doctoral students and creating opportunities for junior researchers in establishing themselves as independent researchers.

The applicants will also be assessed on their pedagogical merits and skills. This includes assessment of their ability to develop and lead different pedagogical activities and courses in the field of work and organizational psychology, as well as their ability to conduct teaching and facilitate learning using a variety of methods.

Overall assessment will consider the breadth of the position and the total amount of duties relevant for the professor position. Equal consideration will be given to the assessment of pedagogical and scientific skills.

The assessment will emphasize quality of both pedagogical and scientific skills.  A quantitative advantage should not automatically lead to priority over outstanding but quantitatively more limited achievements.

The candidates for the position will also be assessed on their merits in relation to academic leadership and on their abilities to effectively collaborate with the surrounding society. Documented experience of working with diversity and gender perspectives in research or in the role as an academic leader is a merit.

Teaching will be held in Swedish and English. Non-Swedish speaking applicants will be expected to obtain the level of Swedish needed (written and spoken) within a period of two years to be able to teach and actively participate in administration and other activities conducted in Swedish.

In case of equal or almost equal qualifications, preferential treatment in favour of the underrepresented gender will be applied in the recruitment process.
