Description of the workplace
The Project assistant position is placed at the Systems Immunology Lab at the Department of Laboratory Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine.  Our group combines high throughput multiomics technologies with state-of-the-art computational methods to understand mechanisms of sex differences in human immunity (more info here).
The research team is led by Assistant Prof. Camila Consiglio, and includes a research engineer and four MSc students. We are looking for a curious, driven and enthusiastic coworker with experience in immunology and/or molecular biology.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
The research assignment consists in conducting experimental work to study how biological sex impacts human immunity using a variety of different technologies to profile the human immune system. Experimentally, the project will include blood sample preparation, whole blood and PBMC stimulations and cell culture, coupled with high-throughput technologies to assess immune responses, including transcriptomic profiling (bulk and sc-mRNA-seq), plasma proteome profiling (Olink assays) and cellular composition and phenotyping assessment (flow cytometry). The work duties also comprise project planning (including experimental design and management of necessary reagents), reporting (both orally and written), attendance at seminars and working collaboratively with other lab members.

Qualifications

Requirements for employment are:

  • Having a bachelor degree in a relevant subject or equivalent such as biomedicine or molecular biology.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in English
  • Specific interest in immunology
  • Research experience in immunology, cell or molecular biology.
  • Scientific communication skills (oral and written)

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability 

Additional qualifications for the position are:

  • Basic knowledge in programming for data analysis
  • Having a Master degree in a relevant subject or equivalent such as biomedicine or molecular biology

Further information
This is a fixed term position for 6 months at 100% percent of full time and starting 2023-06-12 or according to agreement.
