The Institute for Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Physics and Earth Sciences seeks to fill the above position from 1 September 2021.
The position is part of the Emmy Noether Group “The quantum stress-energy tensor” led by Dr Daniela Cadamuro.

ABOUT THE POSITION
One-year fixed-term position with a possible extension of two years subject to approval of additional project funds
75 % of a full-time position
Planned remuneration: salary group 13 TV-L

DUTIES
Research in theoretical particle physics, in particular quantum field theory, within the Emmy Noether project on quantum-energy inequalities and interacting models of quantum field theory
The post holder will be working towards a PhD qualification
Active participation in the activities of the group, such as group seminars.

REQUIREMENTS
Scientific degree (master’s or Diplom) in theoretical physics, mathematics or a comparable field
Knowledge of basic methods of quantum field theory
Potential to perform independent research at PhD level – demonstrated, for example, by a master’s thesis
Excellent written and spoken English
Good organisational and teamworking skills.

The University of Manchester is looking for an experienced candidate in epigenetics for the post of Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Sankari Nagarajan, studying the transcriptional mechanisms of endocrine resistance in breast and prostate cancers. The candidate is expected to identify or streamline interesting targets and validate/elucidate their role in drug resistance using functional next generation sequencing technologies like ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and chromatin conformation studies on CRISPR-Cas9 based knockout models and mice xenografts. At the end of the project, the candidate is expected to be familiar in establishing the reprogramming of enhancer regulation which makes the cancer cells to be aggressive.
