Fixed-term, full-time position available for 2 years 

Make significant contributions to the state of the art in optimising and automating cyber security operations and security big data analytics

Working in close collaboration with our research partners from industry and government sector and other research providers to develop next generation of methods and tools for supporting engineering of big data security analytical systems.

You will be joining a team that is highly knowledgeable and skilled in developing and evaluating software security and resilience solutions by leveraging applied Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) approaches and technologies. This position is particularly focused on research on inventing new knowledge and tools for supporting Software Security Intelligence by leveraging ONSIT data and approaches, advanced data analytical frameworks, contemporary software engineering paradigms like DevOps or Progressive Web Applications (PWA). You will be expected to carry out research and development activities that would have significant impact on our industry collaborators’ abilities to design, evaluate, deploy, and operate secure and resilience hyper-connected, hyper-mobile, and hyper-virtualised software systems aimed at supporting mission critical processes. This position also presents several opportunities to engage and collaborate with our international collaborators in Europe and USA.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related area.
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research on one or more of the topics related to Software Security Intelligence, Security and Privacy by Design and Engineering Software for Information Interoperability and Resilience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Empirical Research using qualitative and quantitative methods, applied ML/DL/NLP for quality of software and development processes and Security in.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience or willingness to quickly learn and apply qualitative and quantitative data analytical tools and well-known ML libraries/packages.

Full-time continuing position available

The University of Adelaide is looking for a research active academic with an interest in working in area of plasmid DNA production, mRNA synthesis and the related recovery and purification of these products. The research will be conducted in collaboration with an existing therapeutic biologics manufacturer so the anticipated research outcomes will be of both a high academic standard and be commercially relevant for the production of the next generation of therapeutic RNA drugs and mRNA vaccines. This position is designed for a candidate with a high level of motivation to work in this frontier of medical science and engineering.

The candidate will be a dynamic academic with demonstrated expertise in the fields of biological, biochemical or bioprocess engineering. Our new state of the art bioprocess laboratory will enable high quality research to be undertaken to meet the next generation of challenges in biopharmaceutical development and production. The candidate will be expected to use their initiative and develop their own research programme to meet the bioprocessing challenges of the future.

Using your excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills you will be expected to develop multi-disciplinary research activities across the University and internationally, leveraging your bioprocess engineering expertise in fields which may include but is not limited to therapeutic proteins, plasmids, and DNA vaccines.

Collaboration with key stakeholders internally and external to the University is a key component of the role and you will be expected to achieve key outcomes on a multidisciplinary scale within the school, broader university community and external partners within industry and government agencies. Leveraging your bioprocess engineering expertise, you will bring with you established industry connections and use these to build partnerships and key collaborations.

You will contribute to teaching of the next generation of students, assisting with the development and delivery of a new leading postgraduate curriculum focussed on bioprocess engineering for production of biopharmaceuticals. Demonstrated experience in bioprocesses including but not limited to fermentation, cell culture, chromatography and/or tangential flow filtration is highly desired. Experience in teaching undergraduate or postgraduate students would be essential.
