The Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of philosophy of science. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.

 

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Philosophy or a closely related field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research in and teaching of philosophy of science (broadly construed to include general philosophy of science and the philosophy of any specific science). We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

 

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

 

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.

Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - General Linguistics with expertise in Chinese Linguistics

 


The Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of General Linguistics with a specialization in Chinese Linguistics. Applicants must have earned a PhD in linguistics, Chinese linguistics, or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. Applicants must have native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and the demonstrated ability to successfully work in an English-medium academic context. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate program level, including preparation and delivery of both large and small enrolment courses, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

 

Responsibilities include teaching large and small undergraduate courses in general linguistics as well as more advanced undergraduate courses in Chinese linguistics. Scholarly activities for this position include work in the areas of teaching methodologies and practice, curriculum development and implementation, and scholarship related to undergraduate teaching and learning or discipline-based scholarship related to Chinese linguistics. We seek creative and innovative candidates who will take a leadership role in the area of pedagogy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, outreach, and collaboration with other faculty members.

Professor - Data Science Methods for Population Health and Health Systems

 


The Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto St-George campus invites applications for a full-time, tenure stream faculty position in Data Science Methods for Population Health and Health Systems. This is a strategic area in which the school intend to recruit a total of three additional faculty positions in the upcoming year. The candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, with a teaching program at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and demonstrated experience as an effective supervisor and mentor of graduate students. Assistant Professor - Economic Analysis and Policy

Candidates area of research must be in one or more of the following: industrial organization, international trade, macroeconomics, microeconomics, and urban economics. Experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students in a management program is desirable.

 

The successful candidate is expected to pursue independent, innovative research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding and competitive research program leading to publications in internationally recognized top-ranked academic journals. For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the job-market paper and additional research papers or publications submitted with the application, a research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Assistant Professor - Operations Research

 


The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for one full-time tenure stream faculty position in the area of Operations Research. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.

 

Candidates must have a PhD in industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, or a related discipline by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates who demonstrate research excellence in Operations Research and whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.

 

Applicants must provide evidence of excellence in research, which can be demonstrated by a record of published papers in top-ranked and field relevant journals, or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, the submitted research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Further evidence of research excellence can be demonstrated by participation in top conferences and presenting research at other highly ranked schools.

 

Excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by strong endorsements from referees and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, including a strong statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials, and excellent teaching evaluations.
