The Opportunity
The Monash Business School are among the 1% of business schools worldwide to be awarded ‘triple accreditation’ by the major global business school accreditation bodies – AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
The Monash Centre for Financial Studies (MCFS) is an essential vehicle for the Monash Business School in undertaking practitioner-relevant research and promoting thought leadership in the financial sector. We seek to boost the global credentials and competitiveness of Australia’s financial industry in providing support as an international centre for finance practice, research and education. Our engagement activities facilitate the two-way transfer of knowledge and expertise between academia and practice.
The Role
MCFS seeks to appoint early career researchers interested in pursuing the Centre’s research agenda. The role requires participation in the Centre’s engagement activities, including ongoing interaction with industry and government stakeholders.
The Centre’s research agenda for the next three years has a particular focus on issues relevant to the asset management industry, including pensions and retirement. Researchers at the Centre have the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary agendas within the Business School and across the wider Monash academic community.
About You
To thrive in this appealing role, you will have a PhD in Economics, Finance or an adjacent relevant discipline and have an in-depth understanding of, and interest in financial markets and the asset management industry. We would particularly encourage candidates who have research experience in investment strategy, empirical asset pricing and the macroeconomics of financial markets.
MCFS staff have a reputation for producing high quality research of practical relevance. You will have ample opportunities to collaborate with other members of the MCFS, Monash Business School and wider Monash academic community. Additionally, you will be able to draw upon the Centre’s growing international networks and be part of a team that strives for research with impact and engagement within and beyond the world of academia.
If you would like to be a part of our world-class Faculty and help grow our vibrant and engaging culture, then we welcome your application.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
Monash University seeks applicants for this opportunity who are able to demonstrate and present valid and current Australian work rights.
