The project entitled “Bioinformatics and Machine Learning” focuses on the identification of epi-/genetic changes associated with male infertility. The basis are a wealth of large scale datasets that require novel analytical approaches comprising advanced skills in data analyses and Artificial Intelligence. Another asset is the “Male Fertility Gene Atlas” (https://mfga.uni-muenster.de) that will be further developed. The project will be conducted in a strong translational setting, in which clinicians, scientists and bioinformaticians are working closely together.

Required qualifications:
• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience in Machine Learning technologies (ideally for biomedical data)
• Excellent programming skills (ideally R or Python, and Java) and experience in website development
• Fluency and excellent communication skills in English (and German)
• Strong commitment to research and development in a translational setting

The DFG Clinical Research Unit ‘Male Germ Cells: from Genes to Function’ (CRU326) investigates in translational projects human male germ cell function in health and disease at the genetic, epigenetic, and molecular level.

The Clinical Research Unit consists of clinicians, basic researchers, and data scientists from the local Centre of Reproductive Medicine and Andrology, Department of General Paediatrics, Institutes of Reproductive Genetics, Cell Biology, and Medical Informatics, and the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Biomedicine.
