The Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, at the Institute of Medicine, conducts translational research primarily on metabolism, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease in order to improve health and healthcare in the community. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of a very high international standard.

Annika Rosengren's group conducts advanced register research based on Swedish quality, health and other registries within the fields of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease, with the ultimate goal of improving health and medical care at the societal level. Our overriding ambition is to utilize Swedish registers in order to create and promote excellence in register research to the highest international level.

Subject area description

This research area is about cardiometabolic disease and uses data from multiple Swedish registers.

Job assignments

We are looking for a person at the post-doc level with skills and experience to develop and execute advanced statistical and epidemiological analyses in cardiometabolic register based research projects, with particular focus on obesity and COVID-19. The research referred to includes programming and advanced statistical methods in register research.

The applicant will also work with administrative tasks and be a support for doctoral students within the research group. The tasks require high ability to work independently. The applicant must be able to communicate in speech and writing with administrative and technical personnel at Swedish quality or administrative registers, and is required to have insights and knowledge with respect to the legal aspects of using Swedish registers for research purposes. The research environment includes several postdoctoral researchers, researchers and doctoral students. 

Eligibility

To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.

Assessment

We are looking for a motivated researcher with a doctoral degree in medicine or public health. The applicant must have documented experience and education in cardiometabolic registry-based research, with a special focus on obesity and obesity related risk factors, with publications in relevant research areas, with a focus on obesity and its risk factors, and from a public health perspective.

We attach great importance to personal suitability. The applicant must have good co-operative and initiative skills and the ability to work independently. The applicant should also have extensive knowledge in epidemiology or biostatistics programming to perform data management and statistical analysis using SAS, R or equivalent software. The applicant must have experience in working with large national administrative and health databases. Good communication in English, both orally and in writing is a requirement.
