The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering 1-2 postdoctoral positions in Life Cycle Assessment of livestock and other agriculture and food systems, starting 01-04-2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a three-year period.
You will be part of a research environment focusing on green transition, reducing the climate and environmental impacts in agriculture, moving towards climate friendly production systems and methods and sustainable diets, and reducing the impact in the agricultural production looking at both livestock and cropping systems. We use life cycle assessment (LCA) as one of the main tools for assessing climate and environmental impact of food production and other agriculture based products. In addition to the LCA tool, we are also working with development of models looking at overall flows and emissions from the systems at the farm, regional and national level. Besides climate impact is important upcoming areas; toxicity, biodiversity, land use change, soil carbon sequestration and overall eco-efficiency.
You will be contributing to specifically the area of improving the sustainability of livestock based food and farming systems based on farm specific and national data. In particular, you will contribute to documentation and development of LCA models and methods within this area, as well as identification of promising mitigation solutions and innovative production systems.
The main focus of your position will be documentation of climate impact and mitigations strategies based on LCA as participant in research projects on e.g. Sustainable and climate friendly diets (SustainOrganic), Mixed farming and Agroforestry (MIXED) and Pathways for transitions to sustainability in livestock husbandry and food systems (Pathway).
