We coordinate the bachelor program in information systems at the School of Economics and Management, and offer independent courses and the international masters program in information systems.

Lund University announces at least one position as international postdoctoral fellow in informatics with a specific focus on digital transformation. The position is a full time temporary position and is placed at the Department of Informatics, Lund University School of Economics and Management (www.ics.lu.se/en).

Subject area

The department needs to strengthen research and education in the areas of design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems with specific focus on digital transformation.

Job description

An employment as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited merit employment that should give the employee an early opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and create conditions for further merit.

The main duties involved in a postdoctoral position is to conduct research. The position also includes teaching and supervision in digital transformation. Administrative tasks may also be included. Teaching (a maximum of 20% of working hours) is conducted at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education.

Detailed description of the work duties, such as:

  • Research within digital transformation
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
  • Thesis supervision
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

The applicant is expected to be in an active and productive phase of his/her academic career and thereby active within the international research community in information systems with specific focus on digital transformation.

Eligibility

Appointment to a postdoctoral fellow position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. Proof of that the eligibility requirement has been met must have been received at the latest at the time when the employment decision is made. Mainly he/she who has graduated no more than three years ago is eligible.

Qualifications

To be qualified for the position, broad and deep experience and competence is required in design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems with specific focus on digital transformation.

The position also requires very good oral and written knowledge of English. The applicant must also be active within the international research community in information systems with a special focus on digital transformation.

Experience of participating in international research projects, having successfully applied for external funding, experience of course responsibility at undergraduate and graduate level in educational programs in information systems and documented teaching experience of teaching in Swedish and English are meritorious.

Basis of assessment

At Lund University, employment as a postdoctoral fellow shall provide opportunities for scientific and pedagogical development and merit. In the first place, there is room for development in research, but also for certain training in teaching and learning in higher education. Teaching can also be included in the tasks. When employing a postdoctoral fellow, scientific ability will primarily be taken into account.

The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointment to a postdoctoral fellow position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research in digital transformation
  • Good teaching skills

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

The overall assessment of scientific skills, special emphasis is placed on having published in highly ranked international scientific jounals and/or presented conference papers at highly ranked international conferences. The publications/conference presentations are to be in the area of design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems with specific focus on digital transformation.

The Department of Informatics is a small department, why collegial interaction and the individual's efforts are of great importance. A required element of the position will therefore be to actively participate in the work of the teaching body for further developing the department and its activities.

Terms

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of two years. The period of employment is determined in the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral fellow”).
