The LUT School of Energy systems is looking for a junior researcher (doctoral student) to conduct research in the field of electric transportation systems.
The employee will be part of the research team of the Electric Drives Laboratory, and the duties also include some teaching on the laboratory’s courses. The position is located on LUT’s Lahti campus (Mukkulankatu), and the research is conducted in close collaboration with local industry.
What we are expecting
Applicants must have a master’s degree or the equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, industrial electronics, electrical machines and drives, power electronics), and the ability and motivation to complete the doctoral studies within the normative duration of the studies for the degree (i.e., four years). An employment contract can only be concluded if the applicant obtains the right to pursue doctoral studies at LUT University.
The ideal candidate for the junior researcher position:
- is interested in research and writing a dissertation on the given topic
- has good writing skills in English
- has some teaching experience
- has good knowledge of power electronics
- is a proactive team player
Employment relationship and pay
The employment starts with a one-year term including a six-month trial period and can be extended by three years, provided that the studies have progressed satisfactorily in the first year.
The salary of the junior researcher is based on the current collective agreement for Finnish universities. The gross annual starting salary for a junior researcher is typically around 30 800 euros (plus a holiday bonus).
