At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for an Associate Researcher employment at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
In clinical neurochemistry research, stem cell-derived neurons have become important models to study biomarker release from neurons in health and disease, what the kinetics of the release is, to what extent increased cell media levels reflect neuronal injury, dysfunction, or activity, and whether neuronal secretion of the markers is stimulated by different disease-associated exposures. The researcher will conduct research on Alzheimer’s disease. Zebrafish will also be used as a model.
Duties
Research on neuronal models for neurodegenerative diseases, supervise and teach students and PhD candidates, write scientific papers, apply for grants, and participate in scientific conferences.
Qualifications
Eligible to be employed is anyone who has a basic education in molecular biology or in Biology with a focus on neurobiology, and has previous experience with stem cell-derived neurons.
The applicants will be ranked based on scientific merits and personal attitude.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 11 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date: as soon as possible or as agreed.
