Job description

Within our Program Coordinators team of Mathematics & Computer Science, we are looking for a junior program coordinator to strengthen the team in making our education run smoothly.

As Program Coordinators we are sparring partners for the different program directors and support them in managing their educational programs.

Job Description

In this position, you are part of the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) team of M&CS. The ESA team is responsible for support for all bachelor and master education offered by M&CS. This position as a non-scientific Program Coordinator aims to reduce the capacity of scientific staff dedicated to program management. Your daily colleagues in this job are (currently three) fellow Program Coordinators, Teacher Support, Quality Assurance, Policy Advice, Academic Advisors and of course the Program Director. The Program Coordinator reports to the Manager ESA within M&CS. The Program Directors and their deputies act as internal customers.  

Your primary job is to provide support services we organize for the full portfolio of educational programs offered by our department. There is an opportunity to grow in the role within and become responsible for your own set of programs.

  • You help to make processes more efficient and take the lead when it comes to information management within the team. Where necessary, you will supervise a student assistant for implementation.
  • You coordinate both the professional development and career activities, in the bachelor and in the “Professional Portfolio”, for the different master programs. This means, among other things, set up the planning to match the intended learning outcomes, book rooms, confirm the different speakers, and ensure communication to students, through the Canvas page, information sessions and other channels.
  • You organize the information to students on how to choose elective packages (Check Your Match).
  • You coordinate the Bachelor End Project for various programs, guarding the process of recruiting projects and matching students runs smoothly.
  • You set up communications with HBO institutes to support a smooth transfer for their students to our (pre)master and HBO Top programs.

Job requirements

  • You have an academic background in education (sciences) and/or experience in managing educational processes
  • Having affinity with mathematics or STEM is a pre, but not a necessity           
  • You are enthusiastic about arranging and streamlining processes. You are great at keeping an overview and structuring information.  
  • You know how to use tools and systems (MS365) to create information overviews and can easily acquire additional system/tools knowledge.
  • You are keen to work in a large organization and see this as an opportunity to learn and develop.
  • You are hands-on, work efficiently and can take on several activities at the same time, finding it easy to prioritize.
  • You are a team player and can present different points of view and take them into consideration. 
  • You have an eye for quality improvement on processes and you are eager to learn. 
  • Strong communication skills in English, proficiency in Dutch is regarded as a big plus.
