A PhD position is available from June 1st, 2021 onwards at the Institute for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (IKIM), University of Bern.
In this project we are looking for a physicist or chemist to investigate physico-chemical properties of potentized preparations, through two experimental approaches: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) relaxation and UV-Vis absorbance spectroscopy.
Tasks
Physical instrumentation (mainly NMR and UV-Vis spectrometers) will be used for this project. We will determine NMR T1 and T2 relaxation properties of potentized preparations, providing information about water structuring. Furthermore, we will perform UV-Vis spectroscopy measurements, also by using specific dye molecules interacting with potentized preparations.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated student with a strong passion for physics and chemistry to join our group. Interest in complementary and integrative medicine with a focus on homeopathy is needed, as well as high levels of scientific curiosity. The position requires a MSc in Physics or Chemistry.
