About the research project and job responsibilities

The postdoc position is in the field of Health Care Organisation for a qualitative study of the introduction of talk therapy for people with chronic illness in general practice. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers and will be based at the Research Unit for Applied Public Health Research.

The postdoc researcher will conduct a study of the introduction of talk therapy in general practice for patients with coronary heart disease and poor mental health, focusing on health literacy responsiveness and implementation. The first part of the study aims to investigate how talk therapy can reach these patients across disparate health literacy levels. This is based on a qualitative study of patient-provider interactions. The second part of the study examines organisational processes of implementing and sustaining talk therapy in general practice across very different local contexts. The idea is to conduct a qualitative multiple case study of selected general practices using observation, focus group and individual interviews. Combined, this study will form the basis of a catalogue with different types of pathways to optimal organisation of talk therapy in general practice. The postdoc researcher will also contribute to applying for additional external funding for a follow-up project.
